Kenesaw resident Ruth C. Hay, 85, passed away Monday, June 2, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Hospital, Kearney, NE.



Services will be Friday, June 6, 2014 at 2 pm at the Kenesaw United Methodist Church, Kenesaw, with Rev. Dr. Lee Wigert officiating. Burial will be in the Kenesaw Cemetery, Kenesaw. Visitation will be Thursday, June 5, 2014 from 3 pm to 8 pm at the Apfel Funeral Home, Kenesaw. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.apfelfuneralhome.com.



Memorials may be given to the Palliative Care, Good Samaritan Hospital, Kearney or the American Cancer Society.



Ruth was born December 27, 1928 the daughter of Carl P. and Bernice M. (Moore) Jorgensen in Quincy, IL. She graduated from the Green Castle High School in Green Castle, MO. She attended the North East Missouri State Teachers College and taught school in Branson, MO and Oxford, NE. She married Francis D. Hellner in Kirksville, MO on August 20, 1950, he passed away in 1989. She remarried on May 10, 1991 in Lawrence, KS to Norbert C. Hay, he passed away in 2010. Ruth was a retired teacher and homemaker.



She was a member of the Kenesaw United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women and the card ministries.Ruth enjoyed needlework, gardening, church and many other assorted hobbies.



She is survived by one daughter, Margaret A. (David C.) Miller of Baton Rouge, LA and one son, Carl A. (Rhonda S.) Hellner of Kenesaw, NE, three grandchildren, Erik K. (Alisha) Hellner of Kenesaw, Danica L. Hellner of Garden City, KS and Tyler L. Hellner of Kenesaw, 6 great grandchildren and one brother, Andrew C. Jorgensen of Livermore, CA.



She was preceded in death by her parents and two husbands, Francis and Norbert.
