Ayr resident, Ruby M. Reis, 65 died Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital, Hastings, NE. Service will be Saturday, April 11, 2009 at 10:30 AM at the First Presbyterian Church, Hastings, NE with Dr. William Nottage-Tacey. Burial will be at the Blue Valley Cemetery, Ayr, NE. Visitation will be Friday, April 10, 2009 from 2PM to 9 PM at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home, Hastings, NE. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com. Ruby was born March 5, 1944 to John and Lorana (Roffuss) McClure in Hastings, NE. She grew up in Wood River and attended the Wood River High School and then Hastings College for 2 years. She spent time in MI and TX for school and worked in X-ray and court recording. She moved back to Hastings, NE and married Franklin Reis on September 23, 1972. She started working at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital, Hastings, NE in 1979 and ran the Ultra Sound Department from 1981 till retiring March 1, 2009. To know Ruby was to know someone who cared more about helping others than helping herself. She was a generous, kind person who loved music, singing, dancing, sporting events, and gardening. She was a loving wife and a dedicated mother who never missed an event. She fought a 17 year battle against cancer with strength and optimism. Ruby found joy working with the church in their choir, Sunday school, elder and other programs. She will be truly missed by those her life has touched. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Hastings, NE. She is survived by her husband of 36 years Frank of Ayr, NE, 2 sons Bradley Reis of Omaha and Brent Reis and wife Amy of Lincoln, NE, 4 grandchildren, Quinn, Lauren, Jack and Anna, her mother Lorana McClure of Hastings, NE and 1 sister Delores Koeppen of Kansas City, Kansas. And countless other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, John McClure, and a sister Lois Ann. Memorials may be given to the First Presbyterian Church, Hastings, NE.
