Hastings resident, Roland Ro W. Johnson, 81 died Thursday, July 10, 2008 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital, Hastings, NE. There will be no services, the body was cremated. Private family burial will be at a later date. Arrangements by the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home and Cremation, Hastings, NE. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com. Ro was born, March 31, 1927, to Russell and Edith (Roth) Johnson in Pittsburg, PA. He graduated from high school in Erie, PA. He served in the Navy during WWII, from September 7, 1944 to July 14, 1946. He married Ruth Olson on April 21, 1946. They moved to Hastings, NE after WWII and he worked for the Hastings Police Force and attended Hastings College. He was later an advertising executive for Brach Thompson, Hastings Equity Grain Bin, and the Red Rock News in Sedona, AZ. He is a past City Councilman for Hastings, NE. He was a member of the First St. Pauls Lutheran Church, in Hastings, NE. He was a member of Sertoma, American Legion, the D.A.V. Club, Eagles Club, V.F.W., Toastmasters and all in Hastings, NE and was a Masonic Member in Hastings and Arizona. He is survived by his wife Ruth of Hastings, nephew Don Olson and Lana Waldron of Fairfield, NE and many other nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
