Phyllis L. Keeler

February 13, 1925 — October 10, 2017

Hastings resident, Phyllis L. Keeler, 92, passed away Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at Perkins Pavilion, Good Samaritan Society, Hastings, Village.



Services will be Friday, October 13, 2017 at 10:30 am at the First Christian Church with Pastor Dustin Bauer officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the church. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.apfelfuneralhome.com. Apfel Funeral Home, Hastings is in charge of the arrangements.



Phyllis was born February 13, 1925 in Beatrice, NE to Henry and Dessie (Ericson) Ossowski. She graduated from Beatrice High School in 1943 and Lincoln General School of Nursing in 1946. She married Wayne Keeler on March 24, 1946 in Marysville, Kansas; he preceeded her in death on January 9, 2009.



Phyllis worked as a nurse for several Physicians as well as Mary Lanning Hospital. Phyllis retired in 1980 after working 20 years at the Veterans Home in Grand Island. Phyllis loved to crochet and knit and she shared her talents with many. She loved to watch birds and tend to flowers beds. She enjoyed going camping and spending winters in the south and watching Nebraska football.



Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Wayne, her son Mike, two brothers Jack and Theo.



Survivors include daughter in law Shelia Keeler of Niobrara, two granddaughter and spouses Nicole and Jon Scott of ONeill, NE and Michela and Waylon Strom of Battle Creek, NE. Great grandchildren Gabbie, Chloe, Mallorie, and Bristol Scott and Parker, Piper, and Paleigh Strom; Brother Wayne and Carol Ossowski of DeWitt, NE.
