Patricia L. "Patty" (Dunning) Stein

Patricia “Patty” L. (Dunning) Stein, 66, of Grand Island died Tuesday, October 09, 2018, at CHI Health St. Francis in Grand Island.



Mass of the Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM, Monday, October 15th at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Grand Island. The Rev. Marty Egging will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Grand Island. NE. Apfel Funeral Home is caring for the family.



The family will greet friends from 4 to 6 PM Sunday, October 14, 2018 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Grand Island. A parish vigil service will take place at 6 PM at the church. Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated at a later date.



Patty was born March 15, 1952, at Grand Island the daughter of Bernard R. and Mary Agnes (Whalen) Dunning. She grew up in Grand Island and received her education in the Catholic school system graduating from Grand Island Central Catholic School with the class of 1970.



Patty continued her education at Wayne State Teachers College for two years, transferring to Kearney State Teachers College where she received her Bachelors, graduating in 1974.



She was employed at Mesa Public Schools, Mesa, Arizona and retired from Mesa Public Schools. Upon retirement Patty returned to Grand Island to be closer to her family and friends. Patty’s faith and family were very important to her, she was always thinking of others.



She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Grand Island.



Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Jason and fiancée, Norah Medlin of Grand Island, three brothers & sisters-in-law, Don & Sue Dunning, Jerry & Barb Dunning and Tom & Dianna Dunning all of Grand Island, one sister, Mary Dunning also of Grand Island, numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.



She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister & brother-in-law, Anna Marie & Max Kuhn.
