Merle L. Knoedler

Hastings resident Merle L. Knoedler, 70, of 918 East 3rd, died, Wednesday, August 23, 2006, at Saint Francis Medical Center, Grand Island, NE. Memorial services will be held Monday, August 28, 2006, at 2 PM at the Brand-Wilson Chapel, Hastings, NE with the Rev. Judith Allen officiating. Burial will be at a later date. No visitation due to the body was cremated. Book signing will be Thursday, and Friday, August 24th and 25th 2006 from 8 AM to 5 PM at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home and up till service time Monday. Condolences may be sent to the family from wwwbrandwilson.com. Mr. Knoedler was born April 4, 1936 to Otto and Avis (DeWitt) Knoedler in Boise, Idaho. He attended Cozad Public Schools. He served in the Army from November 11, 1954 to November 9, 1956. He married Shirlee Kincheloe in 1955. He owned K & K Auto in Lexington and North Platte, NE. After selling his dealerships he enjoyed antiquing. He moved to Hastings from Lincoln, NE after retiring. He is survived by 2 sons, Steven and wife Clydene of Grand Island, NE and Rick and wife Amy of Cornelius, Oregon. 6 Grandchildren, Becky, Seth, Tyler, Michael, Eric and Justin. 5 Great Grandsons, 1 sister Betty Wilkins of Holdrege, NE and 2 brothers, Dean of Hastings, NE and Rod of Huntley, NE. He was preceded in death by 1 son, Jeff, his parents, 1 sister, Debbie and 1 brother, Otto Jr. Sonny. Memorials may be given to the Heartland Pet Connection.
