Mary Ann Winfrey, 81 of Grand Island, died Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at CHI Health, St. Francis, Grand Island.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday November 7, 2015 at St. Marys Cathedral with Father Scott Harter and Deacon Tom Schulte will be officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery Grand Island. Visitation hours will be from 5-7 P.M. Friday at Apfel Funeral Home with the rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Memorials are suggested to St. Judes Research Hospital. Apfel Funeral Home is caring for the family.

Mary Ann Winfrey was born October 20, 1934 in Newman Grove, Nebraska the daughter of Carl W. & Marie O (Bogner) Stovie. She grew up in Albion, Omaha and Wolbach, receiving her education at Holy Name High and Wolbach High school.

She was united in marriage to Donald Ray Winfrey on November 27, 1952 in Cedar Rapids, Nebraska. The couple made their home in Missouri, Omaha, and later Grand Island where she was employed by American National Insurance Company and later Edward Jones as a Branch Office Manager.

She was a member of St. Marys Cathedral and Red Hats. She also enjoyed crocheting and cooking her familys favorite specialties.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Shelly Mason of Grand Island; sons & daughters-in-law, Gerry and Terri Winfrey of Omaha, Steve and Mary Winfrey of Hastings; nine grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Kathy and Tom Schulte of Omaha, Carol Jean and Denny Monaghan of Omaha.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Donald Ray Winfrey.
