July 15, 1934 — April 25, 2013

Hastings resident, Marvin D. Kerr, 78, passed away Thursday, April 25, 2013 at the Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital, Hastings, NE. Services will be Monday, April 29, 2013 at 10:30 am at the First St. Pauls Lutheran Church, Hastings with Rev. Joel Remmers officiating. Burial will be at Parkview Cemetery in Hastings. Visitation will be Sunday, April 28, 2013 from 1 pm to 9 pm with the family present from 4 pm to 6 pm at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home, Hastings. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com. Marvin was born July 15, 1934 in Hastings, NE to Raymond W. and Charlotte (Stromer) Kerr. He played the violin as the youngest member of the Hastings Symphony and later served on the board. He graduated from Hastings High School in 1952 and he attended Hastings College. He married Lucy Uhrmacher in April of 1953 they had three children together. Marvin worked his entire life with his brother at their fathers plastic company, Kerrco Plastics Inc. He married Donna Einspahr Barnett on May 18, 1990. They loved to travel. He was a lifetime member of First St. Pauls Lutheran Church where he was on the church board, usher, Sunday school teacher and reader. He was past president of the Hastings Jaycees and was instrumental in starting the Midget Football program in Hastings. He also served on the Hastings Corporation Board and was a boyscout leader for Troop 200. In his later years he enjoyed going to coffee with all his gossip buddies. He is survived by his wife Donna of Hastings, his children, Laurie Hawes (Tom) of Hastings, Randy Barnett (Sue) of Covington, KY, Renae Olson (Rick) of Minden,NE, and Rachelle Barnett of Omaha, NE, son-in-law Jim Harris of Seattle, daughter-in-law Susan Kerr Geiser of Ft. Collins, CO, eleven grandchildren, Lisa, Ashley (Justin), Nikole, Kelsey (Brian), Kellen (Cassie), Jaryd, Dan, Michael, Kylie, Brett and Mick, four great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, two sisters, Betty Jansen (Jack) of Sioux City, IA, Delaine Loewenstein (Tim) of Kearney, one brother-in-law, Darrell Einspahr (Rojean) of North Platte, NE, sister-in-law, Rebecca Kerr of Papillion, mother in-law, Neola Einspahr of Hastings and his beloved dogs Daisy and Sam. He was preceded in death by his parents, Grandpa Jim, his father-in-law, Palmer Einspahr, his daughter Debra Kerr Harris, his son Craig Kerr, and his brother, Donald Kerr.
