Marion Vincent Brown

March 26, 1931 — April 10, 2019

Hastings resident, Marion Vincent Brown, 88, passed away, Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at the VA Nebraska-Western Iowa Health Care System, Grand Island, NE.



Services will be Friday, April 12, 2019 at 1pm at the Apfel Funeral Home Chapel, Hastings with Pastor Jeff Zinnel officiating. Visitation will be an hour and a half prior to the funeral service with Military rites by the Hastings Veterans Service will follow the service. Burial will be in the Rosedale Cemetery, Rosedale, NE. Apfel Funeral Home, Hastings is in care of the family. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.apfelfuneralhome.com.

Marion was born March 26, 1931 to Edward and Nina (Collier) Brown in Lakeview Michigan. He graduated from high school in Arizona in 1949. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He attended Advanced Corps-School in Virginia studying, submarine, medical training and welding. He married Shirley Rae Gerdes on June 2, 1955 in Hastings. Marion was a postal worker retiring in 1996.



Marion enjoyed working with his hands, including, leather, computers, mechanics and he enjoyed riding motorcycles.



He is survived by his wife Shirley, of Hastings, four daughters, Sandra Lee Brown of Hastings, Bonita Ann “Bonnie” (William) Williams of Ravenna, Barbara Gail (Scott) Kattau of Port Angeles, WA and Lee Maggie Brown (Kay Storrs) of Lincoln, one son Vincent Charles Brown of Panama City, Florida, 10 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren, and two brothers, Donald Brown of Dayton, Ohio and Dwight (Ruby) Brown of Phoenix, AZ.



He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Vernon Brown and one sister in law Mary Brown, one great-grandson, Tyler Lester, and one great-granddaughter, Annie Haack.
