Marie B. Hemphill

Hastings resident Marie B. Hemphill, 98, passed away Friday, February 14, 2014 at Perkins Pavilion, Good Samaritan Society, Hastings-Village.

Come celebrate her life and home coming with us Friday, February 21, 2014 at 10:30 am at the Apfel Funeral Home Chapel, Hastings with Rev. David W. Stitt officiating. No visitation. Marie was born May 2, 1915 to Arthur and Vida (Robbins) Dudley in Rocky Ford, CO. She attended school in Rocky Ford, CO and graduated in 1933. She married Harold Hemphill in 1934 in Rocky Ford, CO.

She was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church in Hastings since, moving to Hastings in 1953. She was involved in numerous womens activities at her church, Christians Womens Club and the YWCA. She loved spending time with her family and friends and reading, sewing and painting.

She is survived by two daughter: Janice Groenewold spouse Darrell, Naper Ville, IL their children and grandchildren: Glen Groenewold- Anthony and Andrew, Park Ridge, IL.; Kathy Dunagan spouse Ron- Alec and Ean, Tarpan Springs, FL; Annette Gray- Davis, Kieran, Nolan and Erin, Easton, PA; Laurie Osier spouse Jon-Acacia, Missoula, MT.

Daughter: Darlene Stitt spouse David, Hastings, NE their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren: Douglas Stitt spouse Julie- Christopher, Jared, and Laura, Red Cloud, NE; Diane Dericks spouse Darryn- Danielle her children Aeriana and Alex, and Dustin his child Caya, Hastings, NE

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Harold, and one brother.
