Maria Isabel Madrid

Maria Isabel Madrid, 89 of Mesa, Arizona formerly of Grand Island, died Thursday, November 12, 2015 at her home in Mesa, Arizona with her loving daughter and caretaker of 24 years by her side.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 P.M. Friday, November 20, 2015 at the Apfel Funeral home.

Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, November 21, 2015 at Apfel Funeral home in Grand Island. Pastor Gusto Montusar will officiate. Interment will take place immediately following at Cedarview Cemetery in Doniphan.

Maria Isabel Madrid was born July 8, 1926 in Santa Barbara, Honduras, Central America and was the daughter of Pablo Gomez & Juana Madrid. She grew up in San Pedro Sula, and came to the United States in 1980 residing with her daughter, Reina Rivas. She will be remembered for her contagious laugh and sweet spirit even through her long battle with cancer. She loved to cook while listening to Christian music and spending time with her family. She had a strong faith in God and was an amazing, lovely woman that adored her grandchildren.

Those left to cherish her memory include two daughters, Reina Rivas of Mesa, AZ , Dilcia Paz of Grand Island; four grandchildren, Brenda Lane-Middleton, Bryon McCarthy, Javier Geovanni Paz and Jose Paz; and six great grandchildren, Zachery, Logan, Sage, Geovanni, Austyn and Chris. Additional survivors include one sister; Dominga Madrid of San Pedro Sula, Honduras.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, and one brother.

Memorials are left in the care of the family.
