Luann J. Pokorney

Luann J. Pokorney, 71, of Grand Island died Saturday, April 28, 2018, at her home in Grand Island.



Services will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday at the Apfel Funeral Home. Derek Apfel, CFC will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island Cemetery.



Visitation will be from 4 to 7 PM Tuesday at the Apfel Funeral Home.



Luann J. Pokorney was born March 27, 1947, at Edgar, Nebraska to Jim and Jean (Larson) Minor.



Luann grew up and received her education in Grand Island, graduating from Grand Island Senior High School with the Class of 1966. She continued her education at Hastings College.



John Pokorney and Luann were united in marriage and celebrated together the birth of their son, Greg. John passed away in August of 1984.



Luann then met her life companion, Ken Andrews in 1989. They enjoyed spending time together with their children and grandchildren until Kens passing in 2004.



She also enjoyed reading, working crossword puzzles, but most of all she cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren and family.



She worked over 25 years as a nutritionist at Lakeview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.



Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Jenny Pokorney of Grand Island; granddaughter, Cassie Pokorney of Grand Island and grandsons, Brandon Pokorney of Lincoln and Zack Pokorney of Grand Island; great-grandson, Brantley Pokorney of Lincoln; twobrothers and sisters-in-law, Jim and Brenda Minor of Fremont, NE, and Rick and Janie Andrews of Houston, TX; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Loretta and Bob Dawkins of Grand Island, Jackie and Dale Jr. Sheeks of Grand Island, Joleen Prunty of Grand Island, and Lori Williams of Grand Island.



She was preceded in death by her father, both husbands, mother and step-father, Jean and Merlin Fuller; and nephew, Nick Wilson.



Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated at a later date.
