Lois D Hammer

March 8, 1929 — September 15, 2017

Hastings resident, Lois D. Hammer, 88, passed away Friday, September 15, 2017 at her home.



Graveside services will be Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at 2 PM at the Minden Cemetery, Minden with Pastor Kathy Uldrich officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 19, 2017 from 1 pm to 8 pm at the Apfel Funeral Home Chapel, Hastings. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.apfelfuneralhome.com. Apfel Funeral Home, Hastings is in care of the family.



Memorials may be given to the Childrens Hospital, Omaha or the Holstein Cemetery Association, Holstein.



Lois was born March 8, 1929 to Hans Nels and Mabel Jane (Frazier) Lang in Bladen, NE. She attended Shellhammer Country School, District #49 in Adams County. She married Dale D. Hammer on May 4, 1946 in Smith Center, KS. Dale passed away March 30, 1993. She moved from the farm to Good Samaritan Village in September 2010.



Lois was a farm wife and homemaker, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed cooking and reading, especially cookbooks. She loved getting manicures, car trips with her daughters and taking care of her family.



She is survived by her children, Patricia Hammer, Hastings, Lisa Hammer (Martin Wisneski), Topeka, KS; Grandchildren, Chris Hammer (Laura), Bladen, Tami Hottenstein (Dave), Pflugerville, TX, Brandon Jones (Amber), Hastings and Bryce Jones, Holstein, great grandchildren, Nicolle Hammer, Max Hammer, Sam Hammer, Trajan Hottenstein, Kendal Jones and Kaley Jones, great niece, Linda Wengler, Blue Hill,

nieces and nephews, Norma Jean Robirds, Phyllis Gilmore (Ron), Don Lang, Rodney Lang (Joyce), Nancy Bierman (Eldon), Carol Lower (Dennis), Gene McNair (Betty), Voncelle Osterman (Art), Sharen Schuchman, Lanny Lang, Lanna Smith (Ted), Jerry Lang (Janine), Lester Shaw (Cheryl), Charles Butch Shaw (Linda), Russell Shaw, Doug Joynt (Linda), Pam Joynt, Randy Lewis, Bert Lewis, Clayton Lewis and Arrolla Wagner (Kevin).



She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dale, son Dennis, three brothers, five sisters, all her brothers and sisters-in-law and niece Darlene Wengler.
