Lloyd Don Brown

February 15, 1933 — February 26, 2020

Juniata resident, Lloyd “Don” Brown, 87, passed away Wednesday, February 26, 2020 at Fairview Manor in Fairmont, NE.



Services will be 2 pm, Monday, March 2, 2020 at the United Methodist Church, Juniata, with Rev. Kathy Uldrich officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings with military rites by the Hastings Veterans Association. Visitation will be Sunday, March 1, 2020 from 2 pm to 4 pm at the Apfel Funeral Home, Hastings. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.apfelfuneralhome.com. Apfel Funeral Home, Hastings is in care of the family.



Memorials may be given to the family to establish at a later date.



Don was born February 15, 1933, to Elbert R. and Myrtle A. (Barton) Brown in Mountain View, OK. He married Beverly “Kay” Scaggs on November 10, 1956 in Hastings, NE. Don served in the Army National Guard and the United States Marine Corps from 1950 to 1971 during both the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He retired from the Marine Corps as a Gunnery Sargent after 20 years of honorable service. After being stationed at Camp Pendleton, Oceanside, CA, Don and Kay moved to Juniata, NE and resided there for almost 50 years. Don worked for the United States Postal Service as a mail carrier for 17 years.



He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Juniata, the Marine Corps League and a lifetime member of the VFW. Don enjoyed playing golf and restoring 1970’s cars.



He is survived by his wife Kay of Juniata, four sons, L. Don II (Mary) Brown, and Michael R. (Dara) Brown all of Hastings, David A. (Theresa) Brown of Houston, TX and Steven (Tracy) Brown of Lincoln, 11 Grandchildren and 7 greatgrandchildren, and one brother, Roger Brown of Lawton, OK.



He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Joyce Brown and one brother Darrell Brown.
