Leona B. Wisker

Hastings resident, Leona B. Wisker, 91, died Thursday, April 23, 2009 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital, Hastings, NE. Services will be Monday, April 27, 2009, at 10:30 AM at the Brand-Wilson Chapel, Hastings, NE, with the Rev. Roy Peister officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, NE. Visitation will be Sunday, April 28, 2009 from 12 noon to 9 PM at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home and one hour prior to service time in the chapel. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com. Leona was born April 19, 1918 to Jacob and Elizabeth (Walter) Kissler in Hastings, NE. She graduated from Hastings High School. She married Vaughn Wisker on January 22, 1942 he passed away Nov 2, 1995. Leona worked at the Weyerhauser Container Co. in Hastings, NE for many years and later she worked at the J.M. McDonald Co. and also at Herbergers, both in Hastings, NE. She was a member of the New York Ave Congregation Church and was also the churchs treasurer for many years. She loved to garden and would share her tomatoes and cucumbers with family and friends. She also volunteered for many years at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital, Hastings, NE. She is survived by 5 nieces, 6 nephews and many great and great great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Vaughn, 2 brothers, Gus and Melvin Kissler and 3 sisters, Linda Crow, Elnora Grater and Frieda Newman. A memorial will be established.
