Lela Bergsten

Hastings resident, Lela Bergsten, 85, passed away Thursday, June 21, 2012. Services will be Monday, July 2, 2012 at 11 am at First St. Pauls Lutheran Church, Hastings, NE with Rev. Joel Remmers officiating. Private family burial will be at a later date. Book signing will be today until 4 PM at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home, Hastings, NE and one hour prior to service time at the church. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Hastings College Food 4 Thought Backpack Program. Lela was born May 27, 1927 to Lloyd John and Margaret (Holtze) Reed on a farm near Holstein, NE. After graduating from Holstein High School, she took normal training and taught at Ash Grove School. She married Robert Duane Bergsten on March 21, 1948. They farmed near Norman, NE during which time she also worked as a secretary at Kansas Nebraska Gas in Minden, NE. After retiring, they moved to Hastings NE and have resided there for the last 20 years. She was a member of the First St. Pauls Lutheran Church, Hastings, NE. She enjoyed taking care of her garden at home and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by her husband Robert Duane Bergsten of Hastings, NE, son Gary L. Bergsten and wife Jeanne of Holdrege, NE, one daughter in-law, Barbara Bergsten of Hickman, NE, two granddaughters, Jenice Bergstrom and husband Brian, Lacy Best and husband Zack, three grandsons, John Bergsten and wife Sarah, James Bergsten and wife Emily, Jeff Bergsten and fianc(c)e Aimee Morelock, 4 great grand daughters and 4 great grandsons She was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Rod Bergsten, her twin brother, Gale, brother, Dale, and one sister June Jorgensen and husband Wilber.
