Lee "'Butch'" Allen Bruhn

Lee Butch Bruhn died Friday, October 9, 2015 at CHI St. Francis in Grand Island.



Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 am on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at St. Marys Catholic Church in Wood River with Father Jorge Canela officiating. Burial will be at St. Marys Catholic Cemetery near Wood River. Visitation will be on Tuesday evening from 5 to 7 pm at St. Marys Catholic Church in Wood River with a 7 pm Prayer Vigil. Memorials are suggested to St. Marys Catholic Church. Apfel Funeral Home of Wood River is caring for the family.



Lee Butch Bruhn was born on September 25, 1939 at Grand Island, the son of Homer H. and Mae V. (Reimers) Bruhn. He grew up in the Cairo area and attended rural schools there.



After his schooling Butch helped his father on the family farm. He also worked for the Wood River Alfalfa Plant for a few years.



He was united in marriage to Joleen OBrien on July 23, 1960 at St. Marys Cathedral in Grand Island. The couple lived in Wood River. Butch worked at Wood River Rural High School as Head Custodian, Maintenance and Bus Driver for 30 years. During these 30 years Butch endeared himself to many of the students there.



Butch was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church in Wood River. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, gardening, cooking and making his own home made sauces that he served. Butch especially loved his family and the students who he took to games and cheered on for many years.



Butch is survived by his wife Joleen Bruhn of Wood River, a son; Delwyn L. Bruhn of Johnson Lake, NE, a daughter and son-in-law; Cheryl A. and Glenn Husak of Wood River, and three grandchildren; Shelby Husak, Trey and wife Desi Husak and Keaton Husak.



He was preceded in death by his parents.
