Hastings resident, Leahdele E. Cassel, 90 passed away, Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at Mary Lanning Memorial Health Care, Hastings.



Services will be Saturday, August 2, 2014 at 10:30 am at the Apfel Funeral Home Chapel, Hastings with Pastor Paul Dunbar officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Hastings. Visitation will be Friday, August 1, 2014 from 3 pm to 7 pm at the Apfel Funeral Home Chapel, Hastings. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.apfelfuneralhome.com. Apfel Funeral Home, Hastings is serving the family.



A memorial will be established in her memory.



Leahdele was born August 24, 1923 to Alfred and Reka (Lindemann) Hoyt, at Spring Ranch, NE. She graduated from the Fairfield High School in Fairfield, NE. She married Emerson Cassel in Clay Center, NE on December 24, 1949. Leahdele worked at the Sunny Side Nursing Home and various other jobs. She enjoyed being a homemaker. She had lived in Hastings since 1955 coming from Edgar, NE.



Leahdele was a Sunday school teacher, a Missionary Society President, and a member of an alliance for the mentally ill.



She is survived by her husband, Emerson of Hastings, three children, Stanley (Andi) Cassel of Kearney, NE, Ruth (Gerald) Hohnstein of Centennial, CO and Edward Cassel of Hastings, one sister Helena June Cassel of Hastings, two brothers, Gerald (Sharon) Hoyt of ONeil, NE and Allen (Marlene) Hoyt of Hastings, 6 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.



She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Lawrence Hoyt, one sister Patricia Shivvers and two daughters, Carol Cauley and Jeanine Cassel.
