Hastings resident, Kenneth Hansen, 93, passed away Sunday, March 21, 2010 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital, in Hastings, NE. Services will be Thursday, March 25, 2010 at 2 PM at the All Saints Chapel, Good Samaritan Society, Hastings-Village with the Pastor Trudy Hanke officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, NE with military rites. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 24, 2010 from 9 AM to 9 PM and Thursday, March 25, 2010 from 9 AM to 11 AM at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home and up till service time at the church. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com. Kenneth was born June 4, 1916 to Otto and Irma (Christensen) Hansen in Holstein, NE. He had one sister, Elvera. He graduated from Holstein Public Schools. He farmed with his father until he went into the United States Air Force in October of 1942. On August 17, 1943 he married Marcella Kennedy in Kearney, NE. He was stationed in California repairing P-38 airplanes as a mechanic until he was released from service in January of 1946. He returned to Holstein, NE where he farmed on the family farm. He retired from farming in 1981 and they moved to Hastings, NE. In his retirement years he loved to restore old tractors and working on the farm. In 2006 he and Macella moved to the Villa at Good Samaritan Society, Hastings-Village. He served a number of years on the Holstein School Board, was active in the Holstein Grace United Methodist Church, in Holstein, NE and was a member of the Holstein American Legion and the Eagles Club in Hastings, NE. Kenneth and Marcella were married for 67 years. He is servived by his wife Marcella of Hastings, NE, a daughter, Linda Shaw and husband Charles of Holstein, NE, a son, Jerry Hansen of Porter Ranch, CA, 3 grandchildren, Colleen Kothe and husband Randy, Tim Shaw and Brad Shaw. 4 great grandchildren, Jenna Kothe, Andrea and Eric Kothe and Nick Kothe, 1 great great grandchild, Colten Kothe, 1 sister Elvera Seale of Lincoln, NE, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorials may be given to the Grace United Methodist Church in Holstein, Ne or the charity of your choice.
