Hastings resident, John Thomas JT Bowden, 84, passed away, Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital, Hastings, NE. Services will be Monday, January 4, 2010 at 10:30 AM at the North Shore Assembly Of God Church, Hastings, NE with the Pastor Tony Anderson officiating. Burial will be at the Cedar View Cemetery, Doniphan, NE with military rites. Visitation will be Sunday, January 3, 2009 from 1 PM to 9 PM with the family present from 1 PM to 3 PM at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home, Hastings, NE. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com. JT was born April 9, 1925 to John C. and Georgia M. (Harrel) Bowden in Doniphan, NE. He graduated from the Doniphan High School in 1942. He served during WWII in the United States Marines from February 22, 1943 to December 19, 1945; he helped liberate the islands of Tinian, Guam, and Saipan. He married Alberta E. Wolfe on September 3, 1954 in Clay Center, NE. They moved to Southern California and JT worked construction there. They moved back to Hastings, NE in 1993. Alberta passed away on December 25, 1994. He was a member of the North Shore Assembly Of God Church, Hastings, NE, the American Legion in Doniphan, NE and Hastings, NE, the VFW Club and the DAV both in Hastings, NE. He is survived by 2 children, from a previous marriage, 1 daughter, Rebecca Lepin and husband Dick of Omaha, NE, 1 son, Lesley and wife Cheri of Temecula, CA, 2 step-daughters, Deanne Glave of Lompoc, CA and Terree DeRosa and husband Fred of Hastings, NE, 2 step-sons, Gene McCoy and wife Joyce of Hastings, NE and Jacque McCoy of Port Hueneme, CA, 25 grandchildren, and 29 great grandchildren and 1 sister Gertrude Peabody of San Diego, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents, and wife Alberta, 3 brothers, Leo, Fletch, and Joe Bowden, and 2 step-daughters, Ida Mae Schmidt, and Marilyn Thibodea. Memorials may be given to the North Shore Assembly Of God Church, the Salvation Army or Boys Town.
