Hastings resident, John H. Buck, 84, died Saturday, October 11, 2008 at Perkins Pavilion, GSS, Hastings, NE. Services will be Friday, October 17, 2008 at 2:00 PM at the Brand-Wilson Chapel with Rev. Dr. Judith Allen officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery with military rites in Hastings, NE. Visitation will be Thursday, October 16, 2008 from 9 AM to 9 PM at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home, Hastings, NE and up till service time in the chapel on Friday. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com. John was born Jan 24, 1924, to John and Karoline (Brauckmuller) Buck in Murdock Nebraska. He served in the army 102nd infantry division during World War II from July 28, 1943 to March 21, 1946. He married Nola J Cavender on July 18, 1952 in York Nebraska. They moved to Hastings in 1963 where he worked as a construction foreman for Lincoln Telephone and Telegraph. He retired after 35 years of service. After retiring he loved traveling and fishing. John and Nola bought a motor home and spent about 5 months in Texas every year with long time friends Bob and Colleen Thomas of Waco, Nebraska. This continued until Nola became to ill to make the trip. He is survived by 1 son Kerry of Hastings, NE and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Nola, two sons Scott and Craig, three brothers and one sister. A memorial will be established.
