Joe Lee McAlevy, 72, formerly of Cairo, NE passed away on Tuesday, July 19, 2022 at the Rose Lane Home in Loup City, NE.



A celebration on life will be held from 11 am to 2 pm at Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island. A private family burial will take place in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery at a later date. Memorials are suggested to Aseracare Hospice or the Central Nebraska Humane Society.



He was born on December 7, 1949 at Broken Bow, NE to Dennis and Ida (Hansen) McAlevy. He grew up in Broken Bow and Litchfield. His girlfriend throughout his life was Frances Beavers.



Joe enjoyed puzzles, watching westerns, listening to music and anything Christmas related, especially “Ho Ho”. He loved his family and never met a stranger without greeting everyone with a handshake and a great big smile and saying “Hey baby” or “Hi honey”.



Those left to cherish his memory are his brothers, Dennis (Karen) McAlevy of Ravenna, and Bruce (Tammy) McAlevy of Ord; nieces and nephews: Dennis J. (Lindsay) McAlevy, Lee (Wade) McAuliff, Brye (Mario) Quintanilla, Rhonda Inderkum, Angie Troiani and Josh McAlevy.



He was preceded in death by his parents.
