Jean S. Dutton, 86, of Grand Island died Saturday, October 26, 2013, at the Good Samaritan Society Grand Island. Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday at the Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island. The Rev. Paul Nauman will officiate. Burial will be in the Cedarview Cemetery at Doniphan. Visitation will be Tuesday from 8:30 A.M. until service time at the funeral home. Jean was born June 1, 1927, at Lincoln, Nebraska to Francis and Gertrude (Karr) Stephens. She grew up and attended school in Lincoln. Following high school she studied at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln graduating with a degree in Library Science. Jean married Robert R. Deitemeyer on March 14, 1947, at Lincoln. They made their home in Lincoln until moving to Grand Island in June of 1972 and to Doniphan in 1973. Mr. Deitemeyer died on January 1, 1982. Jean married Richard Dutton at Grand Island on May 7, 1989, they lived in Sarasota, Florida where Jean was involved as the Sunday School coordinator and Missionary Coordinator at her church. She was an avid golfer in her younger years. Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Cathy Deitemeyer of ONeill, NE, Donald and Marilyn Deitemeyer of Doniphan and Richard and Nancy Deitemeyer of Westlake Village, CA; one step-son, David Dutton of Mobile, AL; two stepdaughters, Diane Lawrence of Superior, CO and Debbie Kimberlin of Virginia; one sister, Sally Carroll; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; and two brothers, Dale Stephens and Don Stephens. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimers Association.
