Kenesaw resident, Jay M. Bittfield, 31, passed away Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at his home.

Services will be Saturday, February 4, 2017 at 10:30 am at St. Pauls Lutheran Church, Kenesaw with Rev. Paul Duffy officiating. Burial will be in the Kenesaw Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, February 3, 2017 from 3 pm to 8 pm with the family present from 6 pm to 8 pm at St. Pauls Lutheran Church, Kenesaw. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.apfelfuneralhome.com. Apfel Funeral Home Kenesaw is in charge of the arrangements.

Memorials may be given to the family or St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Kenesaw.

Jay was born October 23, 1985 to Joe and Joan (Meyer) Bittfield in Hastings, NE. He graduated from the Kenesaw High School in 2004 and attended Hastings College, graduating in 2008 and then attended the University of Omaha working towards his masters degree.

He was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church, Kenesaw. He was also a member of the College Fraternity Eta Phi at Hastings College. He enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys, Duke Basketball, and San Francisco Giants, he also enjoyed playing golf.

He was preceded in death by two grandfathers, Vern Bittfield and Ray Meyer and one Great Uncle, Jim Petersen.

He is survived by his parents, Joe and Joan Bittfield of Kenesaw, brother, Jeff of Hastings, sister, Jessica (Trent) Sidders of Lincoln, two nieces, Kaitlin and Elizabeth Sidders of Lincoln, one nephew, Nathaniel Sidders of Lincoln, two grandmothers, Mattie Bittfield of Hastings and Audrey Meyer of Milwaukee, WI, two Aunts, Dale Meyer of Greendale, WI and Marti Novak of Kenesaw, Great Aunt, Bernice Petersen of Kenesaw and many cousins and friends.
