At Our Alberding-Wilson Location, Harvard, NE. Harvard resident, James R. Rudy Mewhirter, 82 died Thursday, December 18, 2008 at the Harvard Rest Haven, Harvard, NE. Memorial services will be Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at 11 AM at the Harvard United Methodist Church, Harvard; NE with the Rev. Dean Joy officiating. Burial will be at the Harvard Cemetery and a later date. Condolences may be sent to the family from Rudy was born July 31, 1926 to James T. and Hulda (Urwiler) Mewhirter in Laurel, NE. He attended school in Laurel, NE. He moved to Clay County in the early 1940s. He married Ruth M. Evans, June 5, 1948 in Lincoln, NE; she passed away November 8, 2002. He worked as a farm hand, and then he worked for Morrison-Quirk for 20 years. He worked for the City of Harvard as a maintenance worker from 1970 to March 30, 2000 after 30 years of service. He was a member of the Harvard United Methodist Church. He is survived by 3 daughters, Lynda Waegli and husband Art of Harvard, NE, Judy A. Connelly and husband Tom of Fallon, NV, and Theresea (Terri) L. Clark and husband Bill of Kearney, NE. 1 son, Jim M. Mewhirter and wife Sandi of Clay Center, NE, 1 brother Myron Mewhirter and wife Christine of Richmond, VA, 2 sisters, Alice Shriver and husband Kenny of Scottsbluff, NE and Janet Short and husband Forrest of Prescott Valley, Arizona, and 1 brother-in-law, Ron Egger of Naples, Florida and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Ruth, 1 sister Doris Egger, 1 brother Arnold and 1 daughter-in-law, Laura. Memorials may be given to the family.
