Greg L. Miller, 57 of Grand Island, Nebraska died Thursday, September 27, 2012 at St. Francis Medical Center. Mass of the Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at Resurrection Catholic Church with the Rev. Michael McDermott & Rev. Jim Schmitt officiating. Burial will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 3, 2012 in St. Wilfrids Catholic Cemetery in Woonsocket, South Dakota. Visitation will be Monday, October 1, 2012, 5-7 p.m. at Resurrection Catholic Church in Grand Island with a Scripture wake service at 7:00 p.m. from the church. Memorials are suggested to the family and will be designated at a later date. Apfel Funeral Home is serving the family. Greg L. Miller was born January 5, 1955 in Mitchell, South Dakota the son of Milo & Iola (Jackson) Miller. He grew up in Mitchell, South Dakota graduating from Mitchell High School with the class of 1973. In 1978 he received his Bachelors degree from South Dakota State University where he was captain of the football team and two-time all-conference selection. He was united in marriage to Jane Larson, September 23, 1978, at St. Wilfrids Catholic Church in Woonsocket, South Dakota. The couple made their home in New Ulm, Minnesota where he worked for Supersweet Feeds and was a Territory Salesman for the company. They were relocated to Rochester, Minnesota and Washington, Iowa before settling in Grand Island, Nebraska where Greg became Director of Western Operations. In 1994, he began his career in football as a Regional Scout with National Football Scouting, Inc. In 1998, he became the Midwest Regional College Scout for the Denver Broncos of the NFL and worked for the organization for 13 seasons. At the time of his death, he was the Director of Player Personnel for the Omaha Nighthawks of the United Football League. Family, friends, and Faith were most important to Greg. He loved to watch his children participate in sports and enjoyed traveling to spend time with family and friends. He took tremendous pride in his Faith and was an active member of Resurrection Catholic Church where he was confirmed in 1993. Survivors of the immediate family include his wife, Jane of Grand Island, a daughter and son in law, Adrienne & Russell Wyant of Rochester, Minnesota, son and daughter in law, Mike & Molly Miller of Tekamah, Nebraska, son, Nolan Miller of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, three grandchildren, Owen 4, Matthias 2 & Makenna 1; and one brother & sister in law, Gary & Jackie Miller of Park City, KS. He was preceded in death by his parents, Milo & Iola Miller.
