Kenesaw resident, Gerhardt C. Meyer, 86, died Friday, June 19, 2009 at the Kenesaw Haven Home, Kenesaw, NE. Services will be Friday, June 26, 2009 at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home Chapel at 10:30 AM with the Rev. Joel Remmers officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Superior, NE. Visitation will be Thursday, June 25, 2009 from 9 AM to 9 PM at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home, Hastings, NE. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com. Gerhardt was born February 27, 1923 to Edward and Anna Summerfield Meyer in Blue Hill, NE. He was baptized, April 1, 1923 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Blue Hill, NE. He was confirmed at the same church on May 15, 1938. He married Betty Erickson and they had 4 children, they later divorced. He married Jacqueline Eiseman on February 27, 1972. He had lived Bladen, Blue Hill and Hastings, NE. He worked various jobs in farming, the railroad and construction retiring from Western Plastics in 1985. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Bladen, NE. He enjoyed gardening and his grandchildren. He is survived by 2 daughters, Mavis Dusty Thedford of Fairfield NE, and Ruth Jeremias and husband Gary of Hastings, NE. 1 son John Meyer and wife Ramona of Grants Pass, Oregon, 11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren, 2 sisters, Edna Burge and husband Donald of Alma, NE and Elva June Jacobitz of Blue Hill, NE, 1 brother, Orville Meyer of Blue Hill, NE and 1 sister-in-law, Margaret Meyer of Grand Island, NE and numerous nieces and nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Jacqueline Eiseman, 1 son Steven Meyer, 1 grandson, Carl Meyer, 1 son in law, Darrel Thedford, 2 sisters and 1 brother. A memorial will be established at a later date.
