Gerald R. Jerry Kindig

Gerald R. Jerry Kindig, 67 of Grand Island died Friday, April 18, 2014 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha, NE.

Services will be at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at the Apfel Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Duffy officiating. Burial will be in Grand Island Cemetery, Grand Island, NE. Visitation will be from 4 7 P.M. Tuesday at the Apfel Funeral Home, Grand Island. Memorials are suggested to the family. Apfel Funeral Home is caring for the family.

Gerald R. Kindig was born, February 8, 1947 in Grand Island, Nebraska the son of Clyde B. & Faith B. (Carter) Kindig. He received his education and grew to manhood in Grand Island, graduating from Grand Island Senior High with the class of 1965. He attended a two year tech program before entering the United States Army February 27, 1967 and served until March 7, 1972 when he received an honorable discharge.

He was united in marriage to Patricia Baasch, July 23, 1966 in Grand Island, Nebraska. The couple made their home in Grand Island where he was employed at Case IH as a manufacturing engineer for 48 years.

His hobbies included hunting, fishing, camping and above all spending time with his grandchildren.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Patricia Kindig of Grand Island, two daughters and sons-in-law, Kelly L. & Jeff Ash of Gibbon, Nebraska, Carrie A. & Dustin Tibbs of Kenesaw, Nebraska, seven grandchildren, brother & sister-in-law, Don & Donna Kindig of Huntington Beach, California, sister & brother-in-law, Ila Jean & John Rowe of Rogers, Arkansas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Casey A. Kindig and sister, Eola Harris
