Hastings resident, Gerald “Jerry” M. Batterman, 92, passed away Thursday, September 27, 2018 at Harvard Rest Haven, Harvard, NE.



Mass of Christian burial will be Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at 10:30 am at St. Michael’s Catholic Church with Father Christopher Stoley and Father Jeremy Hazuka officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Hastings. Visitation will be Monday, October 1, 2018 2-7pm with family present from 5-7pm at the Apfel Funeral Home Chapel, Hastings. Rosary will be Monday, October 1, 2018 at 7pm at the Apfel Funeral Home Chapel. Apfel Funeral Home, Hastings is in care of the family. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.apfelfuneralhome.com.



Memorials may be given to the family to designate at a later date.



Jerry was born October 23, 1925 to Mike and Inez (Carper) Batterman on a farm near Glenvil, NE. He was married to the love of his life, Mary Ann Miksch for 58 years. The couple married on August 25, 1956 in Hastings. Mary Ann passed away October 22, 2014. Jerry enjoyed farming all his life; he farmed in Adams and Clay County. He enjoyed his wife’s homemade pies and cakes or anything sweet. Jerry enjoyed socializing and playing pitch at various locations, and Sunday afternoon drives. He had a great knowledge of automobiles past and present.



He was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Hastings.



He is survived by his three daughters; Sheryl Batterman of Belgrade,MT, Julie (Norman) Woodhead of Hastings, and Janet (Don) Brockman of Grand Island; one son, Dale Batterman of Hastings; grandchildren, Hannah (Alex) Quinn, Drew (Sara) Scott, Levi (Nina) Woodhead, Emma Scott; great-grandchildren, Ayden, Ethan, Owen Scott and Myra Quinn.



He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mary Ann, brothers, Richard, and Robert Batterman sister, Marie Jane Wroot.
