Georgia W. Fast

December 12, 1922 — March 6, 2016

Hastings resident, Georgia W. (Hellner) Fast, 93, passed away Sunday, March 6, 2016 at Mary Lanning HealthCare.

Services will be Friday, March 11, 2016 at 11 am at First Saint Pauls Lutheran Church, Hastings with Rev. Joel Remmers officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings. Visitation will be Thursday, March 10, 2016 from 5 pm to 7 pm with the family present at the Apfel Funeral Home, Hastings. Apfel Funeral Home, Hastings is in charge of the arrangements.

Georgia Fast was born December 12, 1922 to Carl and Verna (Fawcett) Hellner in Oxford, NE. She graduated from Oxford High School in 1940 and attended Hastings Business College for 2 years. She worked in the office of Brach-Thompsons Department Store for 8 years. She married Fredrick Fast July 21, 1946. They were married for 52 years. Fredrick passed away in 1998.



Georgia was a member of First St. Pauls Lutheran Church, the Nebraska State Quilt Guild, the Hastings Quilt Guild and the Hastings Piecemakers. Her love of quilting led her to make many quilts for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.



Georgia was preceded in death by her husband parents, and two brothers.



She is survived by one daughter Jane and husband Mike of Grand Island, son Fredrick and wife Pegeen of Papillion, NE, and son Tom and wife Deani of Littleton, CO, eight grandchildren, Jonathan Fast and wife Kara, Bryan Fast and wife Angelica, Hillary Pinkosky and husband Matt, Marissa Fast, Jake Fast, Daniel Muessel and wife Amy, Patrick Muessel, Zach Muessel, and four great-grandchildren : Emily, Erin, Alexandra and Sebastian.



Memorials may be given to First St. Pauls Lutheran Church or Hastings Museum.
