Hastings resident, Floyd E. Phelps, of 1733 West 5th St.,87 died Monday, March 10, 2008 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital, Hastings, NE. Services will be Saturday, March 15, 2008 at 10:30 AM at the Grace United Methodist Church, Hastings, NE. Graveside service will be Saturday at 1:30 PM in Red Cloud Cemetery, Red Cloud, NE with military rites. Visitation will be Friday, March 14, 2008 from 9 AM to 9 PM at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home and Cremation, Hastings, NE and up till service time at the church. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com. Floyd was born March 16, 1920 to William H. and Agnes M. (Adams) Phelps on their farm outside of Anselmo, NE. He graduated 8th grade at the Grand View School at Anselmo, NE, he achieved his GED at Hastings, NE in 1988. He married Marguerite H. Davis in Hastings, NE on September 11, 1942. He was a decorated veteran of WWII, European Theater. He worked for Topaz Dairy as a delivery driver from 1946 to 1957 and Debus/Metz Baking Company until 1982 when he retired. He owned Phelps Radio and TV Repair Shop from 1963 to 1976. He was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, and the American Legion. He volunteered in Hastings as a Boy Scout troop leader, GED tutor, meals on wheels delivery and at the Adams County Historical Society. He is survived by his 1 daughter Teresa A. Boley of Littleton, CO, 2 sons, Paul E. and Ronald L. both of Hastings, NE, 1 granddaughter, Michelle A. Markham and great grand daughter Kennedy M. Markham of Kaysville, UT. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Marguerite, sister, Virginia and 3 brothers Virgil, Ray and Leland. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Hastings United Way.
