At Our Alberding-Wilson Funeral Home location, Harvard, NE. Harvard resident, Florence Dorothy Schwindt, 89, passed away, Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital, Hastings, NE. Services will be Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at 10:30 am at the Harvard United Church of Christ with the Pastor Dave Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the Harvard Cemetery, Harvard, NE. Visitation will be Monday, December 28, 2009 from 5 PM to 9 PM at the Alberding-Wilson Funeral Home, Harvard, NE. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com. Florence was born January 19, 1920 to William and Dora (Bauer) Christensen in Durant, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed at the St. Peters Lutheran Church in Orchard, NE. On May 12, 1940 she was united in marriage to John Schwindt in Clay Center, NE. She worked at the Harvard Rest Haven, in Harvard, NE for 15 years. Florence was a member of the Harvard United Church of Christ, and served on the altar and memorial committee. She was also a member of the Harvard UCC Womans Fellowship, the VFW Auxiliary #5539, the Glendale Club and the Harvard Womans Club and served on the Harvard Library Board. Florences hobbies were crossword puzzles, crafts, reading and playing cards. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by 3 sons, Ronald and Richard both of Harvard, NE, and Roger and wife Joy of Lincoln, NE, 2 grandchildren, Donna and husband Matt of Berkley, CA and Debbi of Lincoln, NE, 3 sister-in-laws Bonnie Schwindt of Clay Center, Evelyn and Vivian Christensen, both of Davenport, Iowa, and dear friend Ruby Adam and family. She was preceded in death by her husband, John, her parents, 2 brothers, Arnold and Raymond and 2 sisters Leona Potts and Bernice Klahn. Memorials may be given to the United Church of Christ or the Harvard Rest Haven, both in Harvard, NE.
