Hastings resident, Elnora H. (Bunger) Johnson, 89, passed away Saturday, September 14, 2013 at the Mary Lanning Memorial HealthCare, Hastings, NE. Services will be Saturday, September 21, 2013 at 11 am at the Peace Lutheran Church with Rev. Marcus Mackay officiating. Luncheon at Peace Lutheran will follow the service. Burial will be in the Franklin Cemetery, Franklin, NE. Arrangements by the Apfel Funeral Home, Hastings, NE. Memorials may be given to Peace Lutheran Church, the Childrens Ark both in Hastings or the American Cancer Society. Elnore was the fourth of five children born October 2, 1923 to Al and Mary (Bauer) Bunger on a farm Southeast of Hildreth, NE. She was baptized as a baby and later confirmed at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church south of Hildreth. She married Melvin Johnson on March 30, 1945, he passed away November of 1984. Elnore was a homemaker and worked at Mode ODay for 16 years and the Hastings Public Schools Food Service. After retirement she was a foster grandparent for Head Start and the Childrens Ark both in Hastings. She is survived by two sons, Lyle (JoLene) Johnson of Hastings, NE, and Robert (Janet) Johnson of Naponee, NE and two daughters, Linda Stephenson of Walden, CO and Debra Ayriss of Moristown, MN, 11 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Melvin, twins a son and daughter, one brother Alden Bunger, three sisters, Edna Tobiassen, Minnie Eden and Marie Olson, one son-in-law, Larry Stephenson and many other friends and relatives.
