Hastings resident, Elaine Hatten, 87, of The Villa, GSV, died Monday, January 7, 2008 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital. Hastings, NE. Services will be Friday, January 11, 2008, at 2:00 PM at the First St. Pauls Lutheran Church Celebration Center, Hastings, NE with the Rev. Joel Remmers officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Hastings, NE. Visitation will be Thursday, January 10, 2007 from 9 AM to 9 PM at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Condolences may be sent to www.brandwilson.com. Elaine was born May 19, 1920to Oluf and Charlotte O. (Overberg) Olson in Newman Grove, NE. She graduated from Jackson High School in Lincoln, NE and attended Lincoln School of Commerce. Upon graduating she worked for the Extension Service, UNL as secretary. In 1943 she went to work at the U.S. Naval Ammunition Depot she worked there for 18 years. She then worked for Hatten Electric Service, Inc for 2 years. She married Harold R. Hatten in September 15, 1950, he died May 1988. She had lived in the Hastings area since 1943 coming from Lincoln, NE. She was a member of the First St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Hastings, NE. She volunteered for the following organizations, the Mary Lanning Auxiliary, the YWCA and First St. Pauls Lutheran Church. She was an active member of the National Assoc. Of Retired Federal Employees. She is survived by, 3 daughters, Beverly Watt and husband Richard, of Mesa, AZ, Barbara Strop of Hastings, NE, and Marcia Wigert and husband Jim of Libby, MT, 5 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, and 1 sister, Shirley Jepson of Sun City, CA. She was preceded in death by, her parents and husband Harold. Memorials may be given to First St. Pauls Lutheran Church or National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
