Hastings resident, Earl Henry Hecke, 69, died Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital, Hastings, NE. Services will be Saturday, January 10, 2009 at 11 AM at the Brand-Wilson Chapel, Hastings, NE with the Rev. Paul Julian officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Hastings, NE. Visitation will be Friday, January 9, 2009 from 9 AM to 9 PM with the family present from 6 PM to 7:30 PM at the Brand-Wilson Chapel, Hastings, NE. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com. Earl was born September 15, 1939 to Earl August and Linda (Misselhorn) Hecke in Campbell Hill, Illinois. He came to Hastings in the 1960s. He married Beatrice Kay Harrison on April 5, 1964 He worked at Morrison Quirk and T&L Irrigation. For the last 31 years he worked at Consolidated Concrete. He really enjoyed driving his truck and hauling to contractors. Earl always enjoyed racing and in the last few years he loved watching his grandchildren drag race in Kearney. He is survived by his wife Kay of Hastings, 1 son, Kevin Hecke and wife Anne of Glenvil, NE, 1 daughter, Marianna Derman and husband Bill of Axtell, NE. 1 grandson, Timothy Hecke and wife Sydney of Colorado Springs, CO, 1 granddaughter, Amanda Hecke of Glenvil, NE and 1 great granddaughter, Kara Von Hecke, 1 brother Donald Hecke of Americus, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his father, Earl August Hecke and mother and step father, Linda and Lawrence Korgan, brother, Wilbert Hecke, sister Dorothy Shevetz and 2 baby sisters. Memorials may be given to the family.
