At Our Alberding-Wilson Funeral Home location, Harvard, NE. Harvard resident Douglas Dwight Modlin, 67 passed away Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at Saint Francis Medical Center, Grand Island, NE. Services will be Thursday, June 3, 2010 at 2 PM at the United Church of Christ in Harvard, NE with the Pastor Dave Johnson and Rev. Dave Coleman officiating. Burial will be at a later date in the Nelson Cemetery, in Nelson, NE. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 2, 2010 from 12 noon to 9 PM at the Alberding-Wilson Funeral Home in Harvard, NE. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com. Douglas was born April 3, 1943 to Hugh and Ethel (Loomis) Modlin, in Mankato, KS. He graduated in 1963 from the Scandia High School in Scandia, KS. He joined the Army in 1963. He graduated in May of 1966 from welding school. He married Patricia A. Persinger, March 3, 1967 in Hardy, NE. He worked at Mid-American Dairymen in Superior, NE for 20 years, then Werner Construction in Hastings, NE for 10 years and Armour Foods in Hastings, NE for 13 years. He retired in 2000. He is survived by his wife Pat of Harvard, 2 daughters, Kimberly Wilson of San Angelo, TX and Amanda Modlin of Lincoln, NE, and 2 sons, Brian Modlin of Beaver Creek, Ohio and Troy Modlin of Hastings, NE. 10 grandchildren, 3 sisters, Phyllis OBrien of Salina KS, Letha Garst of Mankato, KS and Carol Garst of Scandia, KS, 2 brothers, Fred Modlin of KS and Curtis Modlin of TX, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one niece. Memorials may be given to the family.
