Doris Mae Busch

November 19, 1925 — February 9, 2017

Doris M. Busch, 91, of Omaha, formerly of Grand Island died Thursday, February 9, 2017 at Bickford of Omaha Hickory.



Services will be at 11 am on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island with Derek Apfel, CFC, officiating. Burial will be at Westlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 am until service time at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the family to designate. Apfel Funeral Home is serving the family.



Doris was born on November 19, 1925 at Hawthorne, New Jersey, the daughter of Andrew and Clara Andre. She grew up in New Jersey and received her education there.



Doris married William Busch Jr. on June 7, 1944 in New Jersey. The couple lived in various communities around the country as Mr. Busch served 27 years in the United States Navy. They moved to Omaha where she was a Manager at Fabric Forum for several years. The family moved to Grand Island in 1972 where Doris worked as a volunteer Manager for 21 years at the St. Francis Gift Shop. Doris also was chair of the luncheon committee at St. Pauls Lutheran Church.



Doris enjoyed quilting, knitting, traveling with her family but most of all she enjoyed the time spent with her family.



Doris is survived by two sons, William P. Busch of Omaha and Ronald J. Busch of Toledo, OH, two daughters, Susan and husband Tom Boyd of Hampton and Barbara Ann Andre of Middleton, CT. Eight grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and a brother, Andy Andre of New Jersey.



She was preceded in death by her husband William Busch Jr., 3 sisters and 1 great grandchild, Drey Busch.
