Doretta M. Seely, 87, died Thursday, January 16, 2014 at Tiffany Care Center, Grand Island.

Services will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 22, 2014, at Apfel Funeral Home with the Rev. Theresa Mason officiating. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery, Rosedale, Nebraska. Visitation will be 1:00 p.m., Wednesday until service time at the Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island. Memorials are suggested to Humane Society or Trinity United Methodist Church. Apfel Funeral Home is caring for the family.

Doretta M. Seely was born October 28, 1926 in Milford, Nebraska the daughter of Jonathan and Mary (Saltzman) Steckly. She grew up in the area, graduating from Milford High School in 1943. After graduation she was employed at Newtons Caf in Milford.

She was united in marriage to Orin D. Seely on August 25, 1952 in Kearney, Nebraska. The couple made their home in Hastings, Red Cloud and Lincoln communities. They moved to Grand Island in 1960 where they remained. Mr. Seely preceded her in death January 4, 1989. She was employed for R & N Concessions at Fonner Park for 20 years, retiring in 1999.

Doretta enjoyed gardening, flowers and doing lots of crafts. She loved the dogs they had through the years and most recently, Ginger.

Those left to cherish her memory include, a sister-in-law, Ila Seely of Council Bluffs, Iowa and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Orin D. Seely and two sisters, Luella Arends & Thelma Cooley.
