Donald L. Boeka

Donald L. Boeka, 78, of Grand Island, NE passed away on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at the Good Samaritan Society in Grand Island.



Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Thursday, April 28, 2022 at Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island with Bev Hieb officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 PM on Wednesday, April 27th at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.



Don was born on March 16, 1944 in Grand Island, NE to Norman and Norma (Batchelder) Boeka. He grew up in Grand Island and graduated from Grand Island Senior High School. He entered the US Army on January 26, 1967 and was honorably discharged on January 25 1969.



He was united in marriage to Patty (Brown) Boeka on April 24, 1992. After which the couple lived in Grand Island where he worked for Art-Kraft and Love Signs.



He belonged to the Methodist Church. Was a member of the Saddle Club, loved sports and was an avid golfer; hosting the Hackers, Whackers and Whiffers golf tournament for several years. He loved spending time at Johnson Lake with his family. Was a left-handed pitcher growing up for American Legion baseball and loved everything Huskers and tailgating. One of his joys was attending his grandkids activities.



Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Patty (Brown) Boeka; son, Brandon (Kami) Boeka of Kearney; daughters, Jeni (Brian) Fuchs of Lincoln and Jenn Patterson of Ogden, Utah; five grandchildren: Connor Patterson, Claire Patterson, Jakob Boeka, Reece Fuchs, and Brooklyn Fuchs; great granddaughter, Ember Nichols; brothers, Gary (Adriana) Boeka, Gene (Tammy) Boeka, Jeff (Chandra) Boeka; sister-in-law, Aldeana Boeka; and numerous nieces and nephews.



He was preceded by his parents; brothers, Dennis and Joel; sister, Susan; and a sister-in-law, Kim Boeka.
