Hastings resident, Donald J. Roth, 80, died Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital, Hastings, NE. Rosary will be Friday, February 20th, 2009 at 7:30 PM at the St. Michaels Catholic Church Hastings, NE. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, February 21, 2009 at 10 AM, at the St. Michaels Catholic Church, Hastings, NE with Father Michael Houlihan officiating. Book signing will be Friday, February 20th, 2009 from 8 AM to 5 PM at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Private family burial will be at Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, NE. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com. Donald was born June 29, 1928 to John A. and Hazel B. (Kealy) Roth in Hastings, NE. He graduated from St. Cecelia High School in 1946. He attended Hastings College and was self employed in the construction business all his life. He married Rosemary DeBacker Felps November 16, 1968. He was also a member of the National Guard for 13 years. He owned and operated a picture framing business for 25 years in Hastings. He was a member of the St. Michaels Catholic Church, the St. Michaels Mens Club and a 4th degree Knights of Columbus member all in Hastings, NE. He is survived by his wife Rosemary of Hastings, NE, 3 step daughters, Linda Heidemann and husband Howard of Port Huron, Michigan, Stephanie Newman and husband Dr. Terry of Defiance, Ohio, and Marsha Nihill and husband Dr. Jack of Wheaton, Illinois. 9 step grandchildren and 10 step great grandchildren. 1 brother William J Roth and wife Rita of Hastings, NE and 1 sister Grace Sundermeier and husband Michael of Omaha, NE. And numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Ann Marie Roth and Jean Mary Gauthier. Memorials may be given to the Hastings Catholic Schools, Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital Home Away From Home or the Mary Lanning Hospice.
