Diane Larae Porter

Diane LaRae Porter, 77, of Beatrice formerly of Grand Island, died peacefully Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at Good Samaritan Society in Beatrice.



Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at Apfel Funeral Home, Grand Island, with the Rev. Kelly Karges officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Grand Island. Visitation hours will be 4-7 p.m. Monday, July 2, 2018 at the Apfel Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Good Samaritan Society-Beatrice. Apfel Funeral Home is caring for the family.



Diane was born, July 26, 1940 at home in Shelton, Nebraska, the daughter of John “Jack” & Leona B. (Becker) Porter. She grew up and lived with her parents until 1993 when she was placed in Hastings through Martin Luther Homes for several years, then moved to Lakeview Nursing Home in Grand Island, and most recently lived in Beatrice at the Good Samaritan Society for three very happy years. Diane was an avid reader, an eager participant in all activities, especially bingo, loved to do velvet paintings, visiting with friends, attending church services and playing with her sister Cathy’s dogs.



Diane was a sparkling ray of sunshine, always wearing her happy face while sharing her cheery outlook on life, and looking to make new friends. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her.



Those left to cherish her memory include two sisters & brother-in-law: Peg (Skeen) Hinze of Grand Island, and Cathy & Jerry Roever of Lakeview, Arkansas; three nieces, Julie Hale, Kari Bender, Jayna Roever; two nephews, Dale Skeen and Marty Roever; three great nieces and three great nephews; special friend, Carol Byerly of Grand Island; numerous family and friends.



She was preceded in death by her parents, John “Jack” & Leona Porter and two brothers-in-law, Ron Skeen and Norm Hinze.
