Hastings resident Dean Lee Hinrichs, 78 passed away Thursday, November 8, 2012 at his home. Services will be Monday, November 12, 2012 at 2 pm at the First St. Pauls Lutheran Church, Hastings, NE with Rev. Joel Remmers officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, NE. Visitation will be Sunday, November 11, 2012 from 9 am to 9 pm with the family present from 4 pm to 6 pm at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home, Hastings, NE. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com. Memorials may be given to First St. Pauls Lutheran Church, the Crossroads Center or donors choice. Dean was born August 21, 1934 to Reemt and Lena (Rothfuss) Hinrichs on a farm near Glenvil, NE. He was baptized at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Glenvil, NE. He grew up on a farm and graduated from the Glenvil High School in 1951. He played basketball and they won the state championship in 1950 when he was a junior. Dean farmed near Ayr, NE and he sold Pioneer seed corn for about 20 years. He married Thelma (Griess) Coble on November 16, 1974. Together they blended a family of seven children. In 1977 they moved to Hastings and bought Hinrichs Gas and Car Wash, which they owned and worked until his death. He was a member of the First St. Pauls Lutheran Church, Hastings, NE. He is survived by his wife Thelma of Hastings, NE, and seven children, Geri Lynn Kurtz of Omaha, NE, Tamie Heil, of Hastings, NE, Jeff Hinrichs and wife Ronda of Hastings, NE, Flint Hinrichs of Weatherford, TX, Cathy Cafferty and husband Tom of Hastings, NE, Randy Coble and wife Joan of Hastings, NE and Susie Digiorgio and husband Dave, of Inglewood, FL, 18 Grandchildren and 30 Great Grandchildren, one brother, Dale Hinrichs and wife Lois of Fairfield, NE, one sister, Caroline Schulz and husband Burdette of Hastings, NE, and three sister-in-laws, Opal Hinrichs of Glenvil, NE, Janis Hinrichs of Glenvil, NE and Edna Hinrichs of Hastings, NE. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, one son-in-law, and one grandson.
