David L. Mcalevy

Holstein resident, David L. McAlevy, 72, passed away Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at the Kenesaw Haven Home, Kenesaw. Services will be Saturday, November 23, 2013 at 10 am at the Grace United Methodist Church, Holstein with Pastor Ilunga officiating. Blue jeans and casual wear are welcome. Burial will be in the Merna Cemetery,Merna, NE at a later date. Visitation will be Friday, November 22, 2013 from 1 pm to 8 pm at the Apfel Funeral Home, Kenesaw. Apfel Funeral Home, Kenesaw, is in charge of the arrangements. Memorials may be given to the family. David was born July 22, 1941 to Leslie Alexander and Hazel Alvinia (Hendrickson) McAlevy in Mason City, NE. He married Cloetta Mae Shultz on October 5, 1963 at the First Christian Church in Broken Bow, NE. He drove truck for Ideal Truck Line for 32 years retiring November 1996. David was a Husker football fan and enjoyed wood and leather working. He is survived by his wife Cloetta of Holstein, two daughters, Glenna Rae (Mike) Beaty of Holstein and Dawn (Steve) Iverson of Alda, and one son David Lee (Angie) McAlevy of Wood River, 5 grandchildren, 7 step grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and 6 step great grandchildren, brother-in-law, Don(Penny) Shultz of Grand Island, three sisters, Beth (Bryan) Fisher of Wood River, Janice Switzer of Victoria Springs, NE and Judith Warden of Loveland, CO and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and seven brothers.
