Hastings resident, Dallas Bruns, 91, of 233 N. Hastings, #319, died Tuesday, February 6, 2007, at the Kensington. Memorial Services will be Saturday, February 10, 2007 at 10 AM at the All Saints Chapel, GSV, with the Rev. Art Schackat officiating. Private family burial at Parkview Cemetery. Book signing will be Friday, February 9, 2007 from 9 AM to 9 PM with the family present from 7 PM to 9 PM at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home, Hastings, NE. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com. Mr. Bruns was born, May 7, 1915 to Weert and Sarah Emma (Busboom) Bruns in Glenvil, NE. He graduated from Glenvil High School in 1933. He married Helen Stimbert, of Inland, May 18, 1940. They moved to Mecca, CA, where they lived and worked for 3 years. They returned to Hastings, NE where Dallas lived until the present. He worked at the Navel Ammunition Depot and later became a meat cutter for various grocery stores including O.P. Skaggs and Jack and Jill. He retired from Nash Finch in 1980. He was a member and an usher at the First St. Pauls Lutheran Church, and a member of All Saints Chapel, GSV. During his life he was an avid reader and a kind caregiver to his parents and his wife. Much of his time was devoted to his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is survived by 1 daughter, Rhonda Rutt and husband Jim of Blue Hill, NE, 1 son, Michael Bruns and wife Beth of Hastings, NE. Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren, Allyson and Brian Bohlen, Sarah Schuler, and Emma; Matthew and Rebecca Bruns, Brandon all of Hastings, NE. Stephanie and Lorenzo Romero, James and Jacob, and Gabriel of Humble, TX; Wendy and Andrew Ingram, Caleb, Hannah, and Rachel of Colorado Springs, CO. 2 sisters, Ruth Schuck of Hastings, NE and Thelma Garrelts of Geneva, NE. 2 sister-in-laws, Maxine Stimbert of Omaha, NE and Evelyn Plein of Fedral Way, Washington. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Helen, of 64 years. Memorials may be given to Mary Lanning Hospice, or the Good News Bearers Childrens Bible Club.
