Connie Jo Reeder, 65 of Wood River, died Monday, October 29, 2012 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha, after a long battle with leukemia. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 2, 2012, at the Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island with the Pastor Brad Jepsen officiating. Inurnment will be in Wood River Cemetery. Visitation hours will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday, November 1, 2012 at the Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island. Memorials are suggested to GRACE Foundation. Apfel Funeral Home is caring for the family. Connie Jo Reeder was born March 6, 1947, at Lexington, Nebraska the daughter of Virgil Carl and Delia Elizabeth (Carpenter) McElhinny. She grew up in Overton where she attended the elementary country School, graduating from Overton High School with the class of 1965. After graduation she began her employment with the University of Nebraska School of Technical Agriculture at Curtis as the first secretary. She was united in marriage to Richard Dick Reeder, June 12, 1966, at Overton, Nebraska. The couple lived in Kentucky and Alabama while Dick served in the armed forces. They moved to Wood River in 1970 where Connie started working for Thelen Grain Company in 1971 and had been with the company up until the time of her death. She enjoyed bowling, fishing, spending time at Harlan County Reservoir, as well as crocheting and embroidering. Connies greatest enjoyment came from spending time with her grandchildren and taking in their activities. Survivors include her husband, Richard Reeder of Wood River, Nebraska one son and daughter in law, David & Jennifer Reeder of Wood River, Nebraska, a daughter and son in law, Teresa & Tim Puncochar of Grand Island, Nebraska, six grandchildren: Dexter Puncochar, Garret Reeder, Chelsea Puncochar, Dustin Reeder, Sheridan Puncochar and Lexi Jo Puncochar, one brother and sister in law, Gene & Deb McElhinny of Kearney, Nebraska, three sisters and brothers in law, Nancy & Eldon Muehling of Lincoln, Nebraska, Carol & Don Thomas of Raymond, Nebraska, Alyce Bauer of Overton, Nebraska. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Patsy and brother in law, Roger Bauer.
