Brion Ottum

Brion Ottum, 61, of Grand Island, NE passed away January 6, 2021 at his home. A memorial service will be Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at Apfel Funeral Home with Reverend Bev Hieb officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.



He was born on January 8, 1959 in Mondovi, Wisconsin to Laverne and Maxine (Wagner) Ottum. He grew up in Eau Claire, WI and received his education at North School of Eau Claire.

He entered the Army on February 7, 1978 and was honorably discharged on August 6, 1987.

He was united in marriage to Jo (Vekich) Ottum on January 30, 1999 in Grand Island, NE. After which the couple made Grand Island home.



Brion loved his Packer football, spending time with his family, loved his country, and loved his friends in the community.



Those left to cherish his memory are his stepdaughters, Shawna (Jeff) Scheider, Tammi (Rick) Gusler and Tarra Pickett; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren; and his two brothers, Dale Ottum (MaryBeth) and Charlie Ottum and three sisters, Nancy Anibas (Randy), Dianne Bauer, and Jean Simonson.



He was preceded in death by his parents, Laverne and Maxine, wife, Jo Ottum, brother, Fritz Ottum, sister Darlene Ida, brother-in-law Ronald Bauer, sister-in-law Joyce Ottum, and niece Angela Bauer.
