Former Hastings resident, Blanche Martin, 93, died, Wednesday, April 23, 2008, at the Blue Hill Care Center, Blue Hill, NE. Services will be Tuesday, April 29, 2008 at 2 PM at the Brand-Wilson Chapel, Hastings, NE with the Rev. Karen Roback officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, NE Visitation will be Monday, April 28, 2008 from 12 noon to 9 PM at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home and Cremation, Hastings, NE. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com. Blanche was born September 20, 1914 to Edgar and Edith Pearl (Adams) VanBuskirk, near Doniphan, NE. She married Jotham Eugene Martin. She was employed as a sales person at Gibsons, Crowleys, and retired from J M McDonalds, all in Hastings, NE. She was a member of the First Congregational United Church Of Christ. She was a Election Board volunteer and County Election Board volunteer, a past president of the Kensington Chapter of the Eastern Star, chairman of the Adams County Heart Fund, Past Den Mother for the Boy and Girl Scouts, Past President of the Womans Fellowship of the Congregational church and Church Trustee. She is survived by, 1 daughter, Betty Jo Spintig and husband Jerry of Hastings, NE, 1 son, Steve Martin and wife Marilyn of Arapahoe, NE, 2 Granddaughters, Stephanie Reutlinger of Lexington, NE, and Suzanne Martin of Curtis, NE, 2 Grandsons, Cory Spintig of Phoenix, AZ and Mark Spintig of Grand Island, NE, 7 Great grandchildren, and 1 sister, Edith Wichman of Grand Island, NE. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jotham, February 3, 1983, 1 brother and 1 sister. Memorials may be given to the Blue Hill Care Center.
