Bernard W. Morrow, 86 of Grand Island died Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at VA Medical Center in Grand Island.

Graveside Services will be 1:00 P.M. Monday at the Grand Island City Cemetery the Rev. Lonnie Logan officiating. Those attending are encouraged to wear Husker apparel in honor of Bernards love for the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Memorials are suggested to Cancer Research. Apfel Funeral Home is caring for the family.

Bernard W. Morrow was born May 2, 1927 at Horace, Nebraska the son of Curtis & Ethel (Clement) Morrow. He grew up and received his education in North Loup and Scotia. He entered the United States Navy on April 25, 1945 and served in the Pacific Ocean on Washington and Piedmont, receiving his honorable discharge August 1, 1946.

He was united in marriage to Violet McDonald, March 10, 1950 in Franklin, Nebraska. The couple made their home in Grand Island where he was employed at Wilson Concrete, Cornhusker Army Ammunition Plant in Grand Island, and later at Chief Automotive.

He enjoyed coon hunting, raising and racing Homing pigeons, and raising 4-H animals.

He was a member of the Eagles Club, Central Nebraska Pigeon Association, and American Giant Homer Pigeon Association, American Legion Club, and the VFW.

Survivors of the immediate family include his wife, Violet Morrow of Grand Island; son, Bernard Morrow, Jr. of Grand Island, Nebraska; daughter & son-in-law, Dixie & Jerry Krohn of Grand Island; grandchildren, Robin Krohn and Crystal Krohn; great-grandchildren, Shelby, Griffin, and Kira; great-great-grandchild, Scarlet; sister-in-law, Peggy Morrow of Grand Island; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Gerald and Bonnie McDonald of Cherokee, Iowa; many nieces and nephews; and his dog, Sargent.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Doris Kearns and Darlene Talarreo; brothers, Dale Morrow, Curtis Morrow, Jr., Marvin Morrow, and Donald Gene Morrow; niece, Grace Marie Kearns; nephews, Bobby Wandra and Tony Mulholland; father-in-law, Sam McDonald; mother-in-law, Pearl McDonald; and brothers-in-law, Lyle McDonald and Dallas McDonald; and sister-in-law, Luella Kearns.
