Hastings resident, Arta Mae (Cromer) Marks, 96, passed away, Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at Perkins Pavilion, Good Samaritan Society, Hastings-Village. Services will be Friday, July 2, 2010 at 10 AM at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home Chapel, in Hastings, NE, with the Rev. Dr. William Nottage-Tacey officiating. Graveside service will be Friday at 2 PM at the Fairbury, Cemetery, in Fairbury; NE. Visitation will be Thursday, July 1, 2010 from 9 AM to 9 PM at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home and one hour prior to service time in the chapel. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com. Arta was born November 14, 1913 to Lee and Maude (Jackson) Cromer on a farm near Washington, Kansas. She married Loyd Marks on November 3, 1933, they had two daughters. They lived in Marysville, Kansas. After Loyds death on January 8, 1968 she worked in the Fairbury Hospital in Fairbury, NE for 8 years. She then moved her daughters to Hastings, NE in Nov of 1976 to be near her family. They moved into the Good Samaritan Village in 1977 and she worked in the laundry there for eight years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and volunteered many places. She was a chairman for 14 years for the Perkins Pavilion and Villa Grace sewing and mending club. She is survived by 1 daughter, Lola Mae Gartner and husband Elmer of Hansen, NE. 6 grandchildren, two granddaughters, Charlotte Waters and husband Mike of Hastings, NE, and Sharlene LaBrie and husband Jeff of Grand Island, NE, 4 grandsons, Mike Gartner and wife Julie of Doniphan, NE, Gene Gartner and wife Brenda of Hastings, NE, Mark Gartner and wife Lori of Wood River, NE, Todd Gartner and wife Angie of Pine Bluff, AR, 15 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Loyd, 1 daughter, Carolyn Boettcher, 1 brother, James Cromer and 1 sister Ethel Ewald. Memorials may be given to the family.
