Arlene Marsh

October 12, 1926 — December 22, 2013

Arlene Marsh, 87, of Doniphan died Sunday, December 22, 2013, at the Good Samaritan Society Grand Island Village.



Services will be at 10:30 A.M. Friday December 27, 2013, at the Doniphan United Methodist Church. The Rev. Kelly Karges will officiate. Burial will be in the Cedarview Cemetery at Doniphan.



Visitation will be from 4 to 7 P.M. Thursday at the Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island. To honor Arlenes love of the Huskers, Husker attire is encouraged.



Arlene was born October 12, 1926, at Grand Island to John and Marie (Neubert) Robinson. She grew up in the Doniphan area and attended school in Doniphan, graduating from Doniphan High School in 1944.



She attended college to earn her teaching certificate and taught school for a few years.



Arlene was united in marriage to Marlin L. Marsh on December 23, 1945, at a farm house in Hamilton County. They lived all around the Doniphan area, mostly in Hamilton County, where Mr. Marsh farmed. The couple retired from the farm in 1988 and then moved to a home near Doniphan. Arlene had resided at Prairie Winds in Doniphan for the past two years.



Arlene was a member of the Doniphan United Methodist Church where she was a member of the womens society. She was a past member of Extension Club.



Her hobbies included reading and traveling. She especially loved making ceramic gifts for family members. Arlene also enjoyed playing cards and dominos with the Doniphan ladies, and was an avid Nebraska football and volleyball fan.



Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Marlene and Richard Hinrichs of Republican City, Nancy and Dave Bell of Hot Springs, SD, and Fawn and Thomas Goetz of Eatonville, WA; one son and daughter-in-law, Les and Peg Marsh of Doniphan; ten grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one step great-grandson and one step-great-great- granddaughter.



She was preceded in death by her husband, Marlin in 2003; one sister, Imogene Creech; and two infant brothers.



Arlenes family wishes to acknowledge the excellent care she received at Prairie Winds and the Good Samaritan Society.



Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated at a later date.
